Emburse launches Sage Intacct Connector for enhanced spend control

Yesterday

Emburse has introduced the Sage Intacct Connector for Emburse Professional, an integrated solution designed to enhance financial processes for small and mid-sized businesses.

The new connector is engineered as an out-of-the-box integration with Sage, bringing together accounting, financial, HR, and payroll management capabilities with Emburse's expense management platform. The development forms part of the ongoing strategic partnership between the two companies, which aims to provide clients with improved oversight of spending, maintain regulatory compliance, and streamline financial close routines.

Integration highlights

The Sage Intacct Connector enables real-time synchronisation between Emburse Professional and Sage Intacct. Key features include automated data synchronisation aligning with monthly and quarterly close periods, the ability to map general ledger accounts and Sage-specific fields, and built-in logging tools to identify and resolve issues without delay.

Another notable feature is the direct export of receipt images into Sage Intacct, facilitating the creation of complete, audit-ready records while decreasing manual input. The enhancement of spend policy enforcement and proactive fraud detection measures form part of the controls embedded within the system, aiming to lower risks before transactions reach the ledger.

Support for finance teams

According to Emburse, the connector supports controllers, accounting managers, and finance teams in streamlining their closing processes and obtaining clearer visibility into organisational expenditure. The modern, AI-powered platform is designed to operate in line with the demands of contemporary financial management.

This powerful new integration helps us expand our vision for Expense Intelligence by empowering teams with quicker, easier access to accurate data and deeper control over spend. By seamlessly integrating Emburse Professional with Sage Intacct, we've gone beyond transactional automation to deliver more visibility and actionable insight for finance. This enables our joint customers to reduce manual effort, strengthen compliance, and turn expense data into strategic drivers for smarter decision-making.

This comment was shared by Paul Nagy, Chief Product Officer of Emburse. He emphasised that the connector offers more than standard automation, instead providing organisations with new strategic insights and compliance capabilities.

Automated processes

Bi-directional data synchronisation is a core element of the connector, with expense data posted on-demand into Sage and updates from Sage – such as vendor information, project codes, and employee records – updated back in Emburse. This bidirectional approach removes the need for duplicate entries, reduces reconciliation delays, and accelerates financial close periods.

Finance teams can deploy the connector through a self-service interface, which Emburse states can be configured within minutes. The design highlights accessibility and usability, allowing teams to transform expense management and closing operations from the outset of implementation.

Embedded controls are included to enforce spend policies and detect fraud before it impacts the general ledger. This proactive approach to financial risk management is presented as a direct response to the requirements of finance leaders in today's business environment.

Functions and capabilities

Specific benefits of the new connector highlighted by Emburse include mapping of general ledger accounts to an organisation's financial structure, scheduling of data synchronisation to support close cycles, and real-time monitoring tools for tracking sync activities. Receipt image exporting and the ability to automate syncs are promoted as ways to reduce delays and eliminate manual upload tasks.

The company emphasises that the integration is tailored specifically for the needs of finance departments in small to mid-sized organisations, reflecting feedback and inputs from users seeking faster, more accurate, and more controllable expense management systems.

The expanded collaboration between Emburse and Sage is positioned as part of a broader mission to provide 'Expense Intelligence', transforming the management of travel, procurement, and reimbursement data into a harmonised, AI-powered financial process for clients worldwide.
