10x Banking appoints Philip Barnett as Executive Vice Chair for growth
10x Banking has appointed Philip Barnett as Executive Vice Chair to support its strategic direction and global expansion.
Barnett brings over three decades of experience in banking technology, having held senior roles guiding the digital transformation and modernisation of financial institutions across a range of geographies. In his most recent position, Barnett served in global and advisory roles at Temenos, where he was responsible for steering large-scale projects focused on digital innovation for established banks.
In his role at 10x Banking, Barnett will provide strategic guidance to the board and management and is tasked with leading significant customer deals. His remit also includes advancing the company's global growth initiatives, with a particular emphasis on key markets in the Asia Pacific region.
The appointment follows a period of growth for 10x Banking in Asia Pacific, with recent partnerships and customer acquisitions such as The Co-operative Bank of New Zealand and Constantinople, an Australian banking software and operations provider.
Leadership perspective
"Philip's reputation for driving industry transformation and his proven vision for modernising banking technology make him an ideal fit for this pivotal moment in our growth journey. I'm confident that with Philip's expertise and commitment, 10x Banking will continue to deliver outstanding results to customers and reinforce our mission to make banking ten times better."
These remarks were made by Antony Jenkins, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 10x Banking, highlighting the expected impact of Barnett's leadership during the company's next phase of growth. Jenkins further noted that Barnett would work closely with himself, Chief Revenue Officer Tom Bentley, and Chief Financial Officer Nadir Guessoum as the company intensifies its focus on partnerships and customer delivery.
Barnett's experience and aims
Barnett has a track record in supporting technology-driven banking platforms at critical points in their development. He is credited for his insights into the advancement of core banking solutions and their adaptation to industry needs as they evolve. As Executive Vice Chair, Barnett's priorities will include execution strategy, developing partnerships and enhancing customer engagement, as part of 10x Banking's mission in the sector.
"My vision aligns completely with 10x Banking's mission to make banking better for institutions, customers, and ultimately society. The needs of the industry have changed dramatically in recent years. I recognise first-hand from my extensive experience in this sector that legacy vendors are constrained because the architecture and capabilities needed today were not even contemplated when they began their journeys. The consequence is that they can't simply pivot to solve the needs of the industry today. With world-class capabilities proven across diverse markets, my focus is now to guide 10x Banking into a new chapter of execution and client onboarding at scale. 10x Banking has architected for current and future needs from day one, giving banks a solution that's both modern and future-proof."
Barnett's statement points to his alignment with the company's approach to offering banking solutions designed to meet both current and foreseeable requirements in the sector, with an emphasis on scalability and adaptability.
Global expansion
10x Banking currently works with organisations including Westpac, Chase UK and Old Mutual, and continues to expand its reach through partnerships and new customer relationships globally. The company's cloud-native technology aims to enable financial institutions to modernise their core systems and adapt more quickly to changing market conditions.
Barnett's appointment comes after the recent addition of Tom Bentley as Chief Revenue Officer, signalling a broader strategic effort by 10x Banking to strengthen its leadership team as it pursues further global expansion and growth in the financial technology market.
