Bitget launches Reality for tokenised US stocks & ETFs
Wed, 27th May 2026 (Yesterday)
Bitget has launched Reality, a platform for tokenised US stocks and exchange-traded funds, adding real-world assets to the crypto exchange's broader product range.
Reality will give eligible users tokenised exposure to selected US equities and ETFs through Bitget's ecosystem. The licensed platform will act as Bitget's dedicated provider for tokenising traditional financial instruments.
The launch expands Bitget's Universal Exchange strategy, which aims to combine crypto markets, on-chain products and access to traditional assets on a single platform. Under the new structure, Reality will issue rTokens, on-chain representations of publicly traded shares and ETFs.
Bitget says each rToken is backed 1:1 by underlying shares held with a US broker-dealer registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. Third-party auditors will provide a live proof-of-assets dashboard and audit reports.
Tokenised equities on Reality will also connect with products already available on Bitget's exchange, including use as account margin, integration with grid and copy trading tools, and access to staking and lending services.
Market push
Bitget is entering a market that has drawn growing interest from crypto exchanges and blockchain firms seeking to bring conventional financial assets on-chain. Tokenised equities remain a small part of global markets, but several operators argue that round-the-clock access and faster settlement could broaden their appeal beyond established brokerage channels.
Reality will initially focus on selected US stocks and ETFs. Supported assets, trading features, and user eligibility will depend on applicable laws and regional restrictions.
Bitget linked the launch to its broader view that tokenisation could take a larger share of financial markets over the next several years. It said money market funds and private credit have seen limited tokenisation so far, while tokenised equities account for only a fraction of the global listed stock market.
Gracy Chen set out that view in comments accompanying the launch. "Reality is built around Bitget's 10% vision: by 2030, nearly 10% of financial assets could exist in tokenised form," said Gracy Chen, Chief Executive of Bitget.
"Stablecoins, faster blockchain settlement, and growing interest from major exchanges are pushing RWAs from experiment to market infrastructure. Reality is Bitget's step toward making that future accessible to global users," Chen said.
Broader offering
The new platform builds on Bitget's existing push into tokenised versions of traditional market products, including stocks, gold, foreign exchange and commodities. By separating Reality as a specialist unit, Bitget is seeking a clearer structure for its real-world asset business while keeping distribution within its main exchange.
That approach reflects a wider trend among digital asset groups trying to capture trading activity from investors interested in blockchain-based access to familiar securities. It also places greater emphasis on custody, audit trails and proof of reserves, issues that have become more prominent as tokenised finance moves closer to regulated markets.
Bitget said corporate actions such as dividends, cash distributions and stock splits would be reflected through a 1:1 mapping process. It added that the system links directly to US equity pools to support liquidity and order execution.
According to company figures, Bitget serves more than 125 million users and has been expanding beyond cryptocurrency trading into a wider range of digital representations of traditional assets. Reality gives it a branded platform for that strategy at a time when exchanges are competing to offer more than spot crypto and derivatives trading.
Tokenised securities have long faced regulatory and distribution hurdles, particularly across borders, and access to Reality will be limited to eligible users. Even so, Bitget is betting that demand for blockchain-based wrappers around listed securities will grow as investors seek easier access to assets once tied to local brokers, fixed trading hours and conventional settlement systems.
Reality will serve as the primary layer for Bitget's tokenised traditional-asset products, with the initial offering centred on selected US stocks and ETFs.
