Juspay has partnered with Recurly to integrate its Hyperswitch payments platform into Recurly's subscription management platform, giving Recurly merchants access to more than 300 payment service providers and acquirers through a single integration.

The integration is aimed at subscription businesses that want to add payment providers and local payment methods without rebuilding existing payment systems. Recurly is also using Hyperswitch's Platform Organisation mode to onboard and manage merchants programmatically across its portfolio.

Payment orchestration has become a more pressing issue for subscription companies, as failed recurring payments can directly affect customer retention and revenue. Businesses operating across multiple markets often need to support different providers, acquirers and payment methods while keeping billing systems consistent.

Under the arrangement, merchants using Recurly can connect to a broad payments network through Hyperswitch instead of setting up separate integrations with each provider. The approach is intended to shorten the time needed to enter new markets and expand payment options.

Juspay describes Hyperswitch as an open-source payment orchestration platform that connects with more than 300 payment service providers and acquirers globally. It is designed to give merchants and platforms direct control over how they manage payments.

Recurly provides subscription management and recurring billing for businesses in sectors including digital media, streaming, eCommerce, software and consumer goods. Adding Hyperswitch brings payment routing and provider access closer to the subscription workflow those merchants already use.

Churn pressure

The partnership reflects a wider push among subscription businesses to reduce involuntary churn, which often occurs when recurring transactions fail because of card issues, routing problems or gaps in local payment support. Improving payment success rates has become a commercial priority for companies that depend on recurring revenue.

For platforms such as Recurly, offering access to multiple payment providers through one connection can also reduce integration work for merchants. That can be especially relevant for businesses expanding internationally, where local customer preferences and acquiring arrangements vary widely by market.

Matt Healey outlined Juspay's view of the issue in a statement on the partnership.

"Subscription businesses need a payment infrastructure that is reliable and built to scale," said Matt Healey, Director of Product Partnerships, Juspay. "Through Hyperswitch, we enable merchants to reduce payment friction and expand into new markets without rebuilding their payment stack from scratch. Our partnership with Recurly brings these capabilities directly into the subscription management workflow, where payment performance matters most."

Recurly said the agreement is intended to widen the payment choices available to merchants using its platform. It framed flexibility in payments as a central requirement for subscription companies operating internationally.

"Flexibility and performance are non-negotiable for subscription businesses operating at global scale," said Jonas Flodh, Head of Strategic Partnerships, Recurly. "By integrating Juspay Hyperswitch with Recurly's platform, merchants gain access to best-in-class integrations in a vast payments network that will open up access to new payment methods and markets."

Company scale

Juspay says it serves more than 500 enterprises and banks and processes more than 300 million transactions a day. Its annualised total payment volume exceeds USD $1 trillion.

Founded in 2012, the business is headquartered in Bangalore and operates across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, the UK and North America. It employs more than 1,500 payments specialists and works with companies including Amazon, Google, HSBC, Agoda and Zurich Insurance.

Juspay was valued at USD $1.2 billion in a USD $50 million Series D funding round led by WestBridge Capital. Existing backers include SoftBank, VEF, Wellington Management, Accel and Kedaara Capital.

Juspay positions Hyperswitch as an open-source system for integrating payment processing, acquiring, fraud tools, tokenisation, vaulting and 3DS authentication. The software has attracted more than 42,000 stars on GitHub, according to the company.

Recurly, based in Austin with offices including London and Medellín, says thousands of brands use it. Its customer base includes Paramount+, Alaska Airlines, Sling, FabFitFun and Sprout Social.

The partnership links a subscription billing platform with a payments orchestration system at a time when merchants are under pressure to improve recurring transaction success while adapting payment options market by market.
