Sage boosts X3 ERP with AI copilots & automation tools

Wed, 4th Feb 2026

Sage has announced a set of AI-based additions for its Sage X3 ERP product, with updates spanning finance, sales and supply chain functions for mid-sized businesses.

The company said the changes add contextual AI within routine workflows. It positioned the release around faster access to operational insight and a shift towards more automated monitoring of activity in sales and operations.

Sage X3 targets mid-sized, product-centric organisations that run multi-site operations across regions and regulatory environments. The product covers areas such as finance, sales and supply chain management.

Sage framed the update against ongoing disruption in supply chains, rising compliance demands and resource constraints. It also cited a gap between experimentation with AI tools and their scaled use in everyday operations.

"Running complex operations today means decisions need to be made faster and with better information," said Rob Sinfield, SVP, ERP at Sage. "With these updates to Sage X3, we're embedding intelligence directly into everyday workflows across sales, finance and supply chain, so teams spend less time searching for answers and more time acting on what's happening. It's about giving businesses the visibility and confidence they need to respond when things change."

Copilot and agents

Sage said it is expanding Sage Copilot within X3. The company described Copilot as a conversational interface for interacting with business data inside the ERP system.

The update also introduces a Sales Intelligence Agent for Sage Copilot for X3. Sage said the agent monitors activity linked to orders, inventory and customer demand. It said the agent generates alerts tied to issues such as overdue orders, delayed shipments or declining customer demand.

The Copilot update is available globally, according to Sage.

Datel works with Sage products in the market. "Mid-sized businesses are under pressure to respond faster across sales, finance and supply chain, and they need insight where decisions are actually made," said Paolo Arcangelo, Services Director - Sage X3 & Sage Intacct - Datel. "By embedding intelligence directly into everyday workflows, Sage X3 helps teams move from reactive problem-solving to more proactive ways of working."

Finance automation

Sage also announced an expansion of accounts payable automation in Sage X3. The company said the feature uses AI for document capture, classification and vendor matching.

Sage linked the change to reducing manual invoice processing and speeding approval flows. It also said the workflow reduces errors and shortens month-end cycles. The accounts payable automation update is also available globally.

Supply chain view

Another addition is Sage Supply Chain Intelligence. Sage said the feature provides real-time visibility from purchase order creation through delivery. It also described closer collaboration with suppliers and earlier identification of fulfilment risks.

Sage said the supply chain intelligence feature is available to early adopters in the US.

Reporting in Excel

Sage introduced Sage Business Reporting as part of the update. The company said it brings real-time Sage X3 data into Excel.

Sage positioned the product as a self-service reporting route for teams that want to build and update reports without IT involvement. It also said the product uses AI-assisted insights to support report building and analysis. Sage said the business reporting feature is available globally.

Builder updates

Sage also updated Sage X3 Builder and related platform components. It said new AI-assisted functions simplify configuration work and speed tailoring of the ERP system for partners and customers.

Sage linked the changes to reduced implementation effort and a lower learning curve for teams extending the platform. The company said these enhancements are available globally.

In a separate partner-focused statement, Sage described the changes as part of a broader push in which partners take on more advisory and optimisation work alongside implementation and support. It also positioned the X3 Builder updates as a way for partners to customise deployments for specific industries.

"When I speak to our partners, I hear a real ambition to grow their organisations and play a bigger role for their customers," said Gretchen O'Hara, EVP Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, Sage. "This next phase of Sage X3 helps make that possible by bringing intelligence directly into everyday workflows, so partners can add value earlier and more consistently. With agent-driven insight, Sage Copilot and a platform that is easier to extend, partners have more opportunity to build differentiated services, deepen industry expertise and create long-term, sustainable growth."

Sage said the additions form part of its wider work on agent-driven features across finance, sales and operations, with further development expected around connected operational insight inside Sage X3.
