Sage unveils AI tools, trust label & supply chain upgrade

Yesterday

Sage has announced several developments across its software offerings and artificial intelligence initiatives aimed at business and accounting users.

The company confirmed the global rollout of Sage Copilot for Sage X3, extending the generative AI productivity assistant's capabilities to Canadian businesses for the first time. With the addition of Sage Copilot, users of Sage X3 are being offered tools for conversational interaction, real-time operational alerts, sales intelligence that can anticipate risk, and a unified 360° view of key business data.

The initial focus of Sage Copilot for Sage X3 will be on supporting sales managers and representatives, enabling them to quickly query customer orders, check shipping timelines, and monitor fulfilment issues. This development is part of a wider strategy to increase accessibility and usable data insights for employees across organisations working with Sage software.

Sage also unveiled its AI Trust Label, which is described as a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at providing greater clarity and accountability on the development and use of AI within business software. The AI Trust Label is intended to provide customers with clear and accessible information on the operation of AI capabilities across Sage products, including how compliance with privacy and data regulations is ensured, the uses of customer data, safeguards that are in place to prevent bias and harm, and systems used for monitoring accuracy and ethical performance.

The company stated, "The Trust Label focuses on key trust indicators such as compliance with privacy and data regulations, how customer data is used, the presence of safeguards to prevent bias and harm, and the systems in place to monitor accuracy and ethical performance. This initiative allows SMBs to understand how AI impacts them - without needing a technical background."

Sage also set out its approach to the next phase of artificial intelligence technology, specifically addressing the potential of what it refers to as agentic AI and autonomous agents, which the company sees as 'a third wave of innovation'. Sage stated that it is building on its established AI background to progressively move into this emerging space, aiming to provide small and medium-sized businesses with advanced tools that automate tasks and decision-making processes.

The company outlined its product roadmap for Sage Intacct, confirming that future updates will integrate AI, automation, and industry-specific insights. The roadmap details plans to introduce further AI-enabled capabilities to Intacct, including Close Workspace, Enhanced AP Automation, Continuous Assurance, Cash Flow Prediction and Optimisation, and expanded developer tools for Sage Copilot.

On the subject of AI-powered improvements for finance professionals, Sage stated the planned enhancements to Intacct are aimed at "propelling finance teams into a new era of high performance by unveiling the Sage Intacct product roadmap, giving customers a clearer view of what's coming next." The updates are intended to streamline accounting processes and enable more predictive financial management within organisations.

Sage separately announced a collaboration with CPA.com, which is part of the American Institute of CPAs. The agreement will see select AICPA resources licensed to help train Sage Copilot, representing a connection between technology providers and the accounting profession and a commitment to governance and global standards. The company said, "The collaboration is about building trusted connections between the technology sector and the accounting profession, between innovation and governance, and between local leadership and global consistency. It signals Sage's commitment to responsible, industry-aligned AI development and its ambition to help shape the future of finance with transparency and rigour."

Additional updates included the introduction of "High-Performance Finance Software", a new brand mission from Sage aiming to provide modern Chief Financial Officers with tools, training, and a professional community. The initiative will see the launch of a CPE accredited training programme intended for finance leaders, equipping them with strategic skills to support organisational growth.

The company also detailed the rollout of Sage Supply Chain Intelligence, built from the acquisition and rebranding of Anvyl in 2024. Sage says this offering is designed to support operational teams in reducing delays, protecting margins, and scaling efficiently without the need for a wholesale system change. According to the company, Sage Supply Chain Intelligence "gives more SMBs greater control and collaboration across the first mile of their supply chain."
