Samsung Electronics has entered a global payments partnership with Checkout.com, extending Checkout.com's role in Samsung's digital commerce operations and adding Samsung Pay to Checkout.com's merchant base.

Checkout.com already processes payments for Samsung Gulf Electronics in the Middle East and North Africa, supporting Samsung.com in that region. Under the broader agreement, it will expand into more of Samsung's digital commerce operations and into additional markets in Europe and North America, including the Galaxy Store and Samsung.com.

The partnership spans Samsung's wider digital commerce ecosystem, including Samsung.com, Galaxy Store, Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay. Samsung Electronics operates 221 sites across 76 countries, giving the deal a broad international footprint.

As part of the arrangement, Samsung will use Checkout.com's acquiring network and payment-processing platform, along with its Intelligent Acceptance system, which uses real-time network data to improve transaction routing and reduce failed payments.

This points to a growing focus among large consumer technology groups on improving conversion rates at checkout, particularly in markets where payment methods, issuer behaviour and local acceptance patterns vary. For Samsung, which sells devices, software and digital services across multiple regions, payment consistency can affect both direct sales and spending in its digital storefronts.

Another part of the agreement centres on Samsung Pay. The wallet will be added to Flow, Checkout.com's low-code integration product, making it available to existing Checkout.com merchants for online and in-app transactions.

That will give merchants a way to add Samsung Pay as a checkout option and reach more than 1 billion Samsung Galaxy phone users. Digital wallets have become an increasingly important part of online payments, particularly on mobile devices, where consumers often prefer faster checkout methods to entering card details manually.

Wider reach

The tie-up also strengthens Checkout.com's position with large multinational clients. It serves more than 1,700 enterprise merchants and has recently announced partnerships with Microsoft, Spotify and Best Buy.

Checkout.com reported annualised net revenue of USD $750 million, up 28% year on year. The United States is its fastest-growing region, with processing volumes there rising more than 120% year to date.

For Samsung, the deal reflects the importance of treating payments infrastructure as a core part of digital retail and services delivery rather than as a back-end utility. Its mix of hardware sales, app distribution and wallet services means it manages a wide range of payment journeys, each with different operational and regulatory demands.

One practical effect of the partnership is likely to be more localised payment handling in markets where domestic acquiring can improve authorisation rates or reduce friction. The addition of optimisation tools also suggests Samsung wants closer control over how transactions are approved and routed across issuers and geographies.

Woncheol Chai, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics, outlined the company's rationale for the move.

"As Samsung continues to build connected digital experiences for customers around the world, we need payment infrastructure that is flexible, reliable and ready to scale across markets. Our partnership with Checkout.com will support that ambition, helping us create a more consistent foundation for digital commerce and bring Samsung Pay to more merchants through Flow," Chai said.

Checkout.com presented the agreement as part of its push to win more large global merchants that need support across multiple payment markets. It has positioned itself as a provider for businesses seeking a single platform for processing, acceptance optimisation and alternative payment methods.

"Samsung is one of the world's most innovative technology companies, and we're proud to support its digital commerce ecosystem through this global partnership. By combining our acquiring capabilities with Intelligent Acceptance and Flow, we're helping Samsung build greater flexibility into its payments infrastructure while giving merchants more choice in how they accept payments," Antoine Nougué, Chief Revenue Officer at Checkout.com, said.
