Thunes adds EURC prefunding for euro treasury flows

Thunes has added EURC prefunding to its treasury funding infrastructure, extending its use of stablecoins in its payments network.
Eligible members of its Direct Global Network can now use Circle's euro-backed EURC stablecoin to prefund transactions and manage treasury flows. The asset is supported across Ethereum, Solana, Base and Stellar.
The addition follows an earlier collaboration between Thunes and Circle that introduced USDC-based liquidity to the network. Adding EURC broadens the range of stablecoins available to members moving funds across borders.
The new option targets businesses that need to manage euro liquidity outside standard banking hours. Members can use EURC to fund high-value euro transactions during weekends and holidays while keeping funds available to meet shifting demand.
According to Thunes, its network links digital assets with more than 90 fiat currencies. Members include fintechs, neobanks, payment service providers and gig economy platforms using the system for cross-border payments.
Stablecoin bridge
Thunes said its network-agnostic model allows members to move funds between digital assets and fiat currencies with instant settlement. Web3-focused businesses can also fund accounts directly from digital treasuries using a euro-denominated stablecoin, rather than converting into fiat before making transfers.
That structure reflects a broader push in payments to connect regulated digital assets with established money movement systems. Euro-backed stablecoins have drawn attention as companies look for ways to hold and move value continuously across jurisdictions without relying on traditional banking hours.
"At Thunes, we pride ourselves on being early adopters who consistently push the boundaries of payment interoperability. Integrating EURC prefunding is a natural evolution of our vision to seamlessly bridge traditional fiat with the digital asset economy. By offering a fully MiCA-compliant euro asset across five leading blockchains, we are giving our partners the ultimate flexibility to move value 24/7, capture traffic spikes, and manage treasury flows instantly and securely," said Chloé Mayenobe, Deputy CEO of Thunes.
MiCA refers to the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, which sets rules for crypto-asset issuers and service providers. Thunes said using a MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin is intended to give members access to regulated euro liquidity within its network.
Circle supplies the EURC stablecoin used in the arrangement. The stablecoin issuer has positioned regulated fiat-backed digital assets as a way for businesses to settle and fund international transactions more quickly.
"Thunes is building the kind of global payment infrastructure that can translate stablecoin utility into real business value. With EURC now supporting treasury funding on the Thunes network, businesses can access regulated euro liquidity with the speed, flexibility, and operational continuity needed for modern cross-border payments," said Kash Razzaghi, Chief Commercial Officer at Circle.
Thunes said its Direct Global Network supports real-time payments in more than 140 countries and more than 90 currencies. The network also reaches more than 12 billion mobile wallets, stablecoin wallets and bank accounts, as well as 15 billion cards through more than 320 payment methods.
The expansion of stablecoin funding options comes as payment companies test how digital assets can fit into mainstream treasury operations. For firms with cross-border exposure, the appeal is the ability to move euro liquidity at any time while retaining access to existing fiat settlement routes.
