CrowdStrike wins third AAA Award for ransomware defence

Yesterday

CrowdStrike's Falcon platform has achieved top marks in the 2024 SE Labs Enterprise Advanced Security Ransomware Test, earning SE Labs' AAA Award for Advanced Security Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) Protection for the third consecutive year.

The platform successfully detected all known and unknown threats with a perfect score in detection, protection, and accuracy, without any false positives, in what has been described as the largest real-world ransomware test. The organisation SE Labs lauded CrowdStrike, stating that it had "improved its already excellent performance in previous ransomware tests."

The test conducted by SE Labs involved simulations of real-world attack scenarios from 15 known ransomware families, incorporating strategies such as stolen credentials and lateral movement through networks. This comprehensive evaluation involved 443 ransomware files, with a significant number comprising new, zero-day variants.

The detailed report by SE Labs highlighted the Falcon platform's exceptional performance in providing "complete detection and protection against all direct ransomware attacks." The evaluation also noted that "CrowdStrike Falcon performed exceptionally well, providing complete detection and protection against all direct ransomware attacks. It also provided thorough insight into the full network breaches that concluded with ransomware deployments."

The Falcon platform's success stems from its unified and cloud-native architecture coupled with advanced artificial intelligence, which ensures comprehensive defence across multiple fronts, including endpoints, cloud, identity, and data protection.

SE Labs observed that the platform "generated alerts for all of the attack stages in each of the attacks," demonstrating its capability for providing "a thorough insight into the entire process of hacking the network." This functionality allows security teams to address potential threats before they impact operations.

Key to its performance is CrowdStrike's adaptive use of behavioural AI and machine learning, which analyses vast amounts of security data to preemptively counter ransomware, including unknown variants. This enabled the Falcon platform to achieve zero false positives and to identify threats before they could execute.

With its cloud-native infrastructure, the Falcon platform allows for rapid deployment and management scalability, supporting real-time analysis that aids in threat containment without taxing system resources.

Simon Edwards, Chief Executive Officer at SE Labs, commented, "CrowdStrike is the gold standard for ransomware protection with exceptional prevention, detection and response to the most sophisticated threats. Every year, we raise the bar to mirror the increasing complexity of real-world attacks, and CrowdStrike not only meets but exceeds these challenges. Its ability to deliver flawless accuracy, zero false positives and unparalleled support for security teams highlights the innovation and trustworthiness that make CrowdStrike a leader in the fight against ransomware."

Elia Zaitsev, Chief Technology Officer of CrowdStrike, remarked, "Ransomware has evolved into one of the most persistent and damaging threats, targeting every layer of an organisation's infrastructure. The Falcon platform's revolutionary cloud-native architecture and advanced AI stops increasingly sophisticated attacks, delivering unified, real-time visibility and protection across the entire attack lifecycle. This recognition from SE Labs validates the Falcon platform's unrivaled ability to secure organisations against ransomware and other advanced threats, empowering them to stay resilient and outpace adversaries in today's threat landscape."
